TREATMENT
Micro-needling
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that’s used to treat skin concerns via collagen production. Also known as collagen induction therapy, this treatment may help those looking to reduce the appearance of acne scars, fine lines and stretch marks. It’s also used in certain anti-aging procedures, such as eyelid surgery and sun spots.
Microneedling rollers and devices can be used to create these micro-injuries. We prefer using a microneedling device as it is safer and more comfortable for you. The device also allows us to control the depth of the injury for noticeably better end-results. Small punctures to the skin are made using the device. As the needles touch the middle layer of the skin called the dermis, the blood flow to the area is increased, improving overall skin nutrition. Microneedling also improves the skin cell turnover by boosting collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production.
“After the nightmare of acne through my teens I was ready to give up. I never imagined my skin would improve to the extent that it has. Dr Zohal helped come up with a routine for my skin which involved microneedling sessions. I highly recommend seeing Dr Zohal if you have acne scarring”
This treatment has minimal downtime, and for comfort, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied. You may notice a difference with one treatment but a course of 3-6 treatments is recommended. Ideally treatments are done 1 month apart to allow your skin to heal between treatments.
